About the Director

Silver Belen is a Filipino film director whose work lives at the intersection of storytelling, rhythm, and visual culture.
With a background in music, his approach to filmmaking is shaped by timing, pacing, and movement, treating each frame as part of a larger composition. His films often balance cinematic visuals with grounded, human moments, creating work that feels both stylized and emotionally sincere.
He began his career in documentary editing, where he developed a sensitivity to rhythm in visual storytelling. Influenced by silent cinema, particularly the work of Charlie Chaplin, he became interested in how movement, framing, and timing alone could carry emotion.
He later transitioned into directing, working across commercial, fashion, music, and narrative film. His work is defined by a strong sense of atmosphere and musicality, an extension of his roots as a musician.
Belen also leads VBS Studios, a creative production studio focused on developing cohesive visual and sonic experiences from concept to final execution.
Outside of his film work, he gained viral recognition through a comedic music series, Oppafied, which reached millions online, revealing a lighter, more playful side of his creative voice.
Alongside filmmaking, he continues to pursue music as both a performer and composer, further deepening the relationship between sound and image in his work.
At its core, his practice is guided by two instruments: the camera and music.
